April 11, 2006 Lunch Bunch
The LUNCH BUNCH met on Tuesday, April 11 at 11:30 AM at the
Golden Corral. The cost is only $6.29 for lunch plus the drink, is a huge
buffet, and you can eat as much as you want. We usually meet at the Golden
Corral from January through April. We had approximately thirty-five
classmates present! What an amazing group. We have a wonderful time
reminiscing, sharing what is happening in our lives, and of course
discussing our health issues. Several of our classmates have taken the
leap, have titanium knees and are now pain free!
Shirley Holdren Smith made the announcements that Sony Hickman Philip's
husband is in Intensive Care, and that we have lost another classmate, Don
Sidwell. We will keep their families in our prayers. Shirley said the
blessing for us.
Gwen Moore Curry, Dick and Carolyn Waite, Gerald and Jenilee Roberts, David
and Dolores Roberts, and Janet Adamson Lewellen were a few of our classmates
who usually attend and were unable to attend today.
We had three classmates attending from out of state. They were Nancy Carter
Gildersleeve from Frederick, MD; Carl and Becky Factor from Westfield, NJ,
and Tom Hale from Shelby Twp, MI. Several of us stayed until 3:30 PM
chatting together.
Actually, I should mention that Donna Frame Swope who lives in Longwood, FL
wanted to attend today. For a few moments we thought she had arrived. This
beautiful slim blonde with blue eyes was introduced as Donna. We were told
that she had just had a face lift and had lost some weight, but we could not
be fooled. It was Donna's niece, her sister Nancy's daughter who had a cell
phone, and several of us got to talk with Donna. We couldn't stop
laughing. Donna said she is so upset that we didn't believe her young niece
was her that she has started eating her chocolates again!
Carl Factor and Tom Hale both went to visit with Jack Fenton in the Nursing
Home. They shared with us that he was not in good shape, and we were sad to
learn that he passed away on Friday, April 14, three days later. Maryanna
Fenton has been attending our Lunch Bunch group and we send our condolences
to her as well as Don Sidwell's family.
A big thanks should go to Tom Hale who has volunteered to set up this WEB
site for us and maintain it.
We will be back at the Golden Corral next month on Tuesday, May 9 at 11:30
AM. Everyone is welcome, so please plan on joining us.
